HRAI Chair Announces Successor for President’s Position
HRAI Chair Bruce Passmore commended Warren Heeley for his long-standing leadership at HRAI and his pending retirement. Bruce also announced the appointment of Sandy MacLeod to succeed Warren at the end of June 2018, providing an adequate time for an orderly transition.
Sandy is an experienced, proven and well-respected business leader who most recently held the position of Chief Operating Officer – Print, for Star Media Group, which included the Toronto Star and Metro English Canada. Sandy has a proven track record of running both small and large business operations. He has considerable experience in operations and marketing and has also had accountability for business development, strategy and human resources. Sandy has a record of building and retaining strong teams and delivering results that outpace the industry. While Sandy is a native of Nova Scotia, he has led numerous business units across Canada.
Sandy also brings considerable association board experience to the role as he has been involved with several associations in the communications industry including President of the North American Division of the International News Media Association, media research lead for Vividata and Chair of Advertising Standards Canada. He is a graduate of the MBA program at Queen’s University.
Bruce stresses that the combination of Sandy’s business acumen, wide range of experience, his understanding of the Canadian Marketplace and the time spent serving on Association Boards make him an ideal fit for this role. “It’s an opportunity for HRAI to experience a fresh perspective”, says Passmore
